Openwave® Mobile Messaging Gateway
Openwave Mobile Messaging Gateway (MMG) is an IP-based solution that allows operators to deploy enhanced data services and short messaging services. MMG provides a low cost of ownership and a single point of connectivity to all the leading SMSC, paging, and email systems.
The Mobile Messaging Gateway brings many benefits into an operator's network. The Gateway acts as a hub to link multiple existing SMS centers together, converts proprietary protocols to standard SMPP protocols, and centralizes operations and decreases costs by taking advantage of Internet Protocol (IP) economics.
The Mobile Messaging Gateway, Message Center Edition (MCE) is an IP based, fully-featured solution that offers a significant price and performance improvement over legacy systems. Mobile Messaging Gateway, Message Center Edition service callout allows other network elements and value added service platforms to define how SMS messages are handled, e.g. number portability or pre-paid services.
The Mobile Messaging Gateway Router Edition (RE) is a message aggregator and protocol translator to integrate external applications into the Operators SMS network. The Mobile Messaging Gateway, Router Edition also provides message routing and load balancing to a distributed SMSC network.
The increase in messaging applications and enhanced services has resulted in an increase in message traffic and capacity requirements for Wireless Operators' SMSC and MMSC infrastructure. The Openwave MMG provides Wireless Operators with a set of critical capabilities that improve the ROI from their investment in messaging platforms, while satisfying the connectivity and quality of service needs of the External Short Message Entity (ESME) community.
MMG-RE is a single point of entry for messaging applications, providing message concentration, protocol conversion and message routing capabilities;
Service Callout, LDAP integration and "digit" analysis features make the most effective use of deployed SMSC capacity and provide additional revenue generating/cost saving features for other Value Added Services;
Tight integration of MCE with Openwave Location, MAG, MAIL and MMS-C;
Reduces the need for 3rd party database licenses and it supports high volume message delivery requirements;
Uses standard hardware components that reduces system management training requirements and time spent managing the platform.
Openwave Rich Mail offers the ease of use of a PC-based application with the flexibility of a web-based application.
