  TDC DEPLOYS OPENWAVE EDGE GX ANTI-ABUSE TO PROTECT OVER ONE MILLION SUBSCRIBERS
 

  Rapid Deployment of Entire Suite of Edge Gx, Anti-Virus and Anti-Spam Solution
 
REDWOOD CITY, Calif. - September 14, 2004 -- Openwave Systems Inc. (Nasdaq: OPWV), the leading provider of open software products and services for the communications industry, today announced that TDC, the leading telecommunications company in Denmark, has successfully deployed Openwave's Edge Gx Anti-Abuse solution, to protect subscribers from spam, viruses and other malicious attacks and to simplify the overall management of their messaging systems.

The rapid in-house deployment of Edge Gx Anti-Abuse has provided TDC with a multi-tiered anti-abuse solution consisting of network edge defenses, anti-spam filtering, and anti-virus filtering. Designed specifically to address the needs of service providers, Edge Gx defends against messaging abuse at the edge of the network on both inbound and outbound messages, preventing spammers from infiltrating carrier networks and illegally sending out massive amounts or spam or harmful viruses

Through Edge Gx, Openwave can offer service providers two distinct solutions. Edge Gx Network Controls complement existing anti-spam and anti-virus filters. Edge Gx Anti-Abuse provides network controls plus filtering solutions and end-user controls.
