  MTS SELECTS OPENWAVE EMAIL MX TO FORM THE FOUNDATION FOR INTEGRATED MESSAGING SERVICES
 

  REDWOOD CITY, Calif. - July 7, 2004 -- Openwave Systems Inc. (Nasdaq: OPWV), the leading provider of open software products and services for the communications industry, today announced that Manitoba Telecom Services Inc. (MTS), Canada's third-largest telecommunications carrier, has deployed Openwave™ Email Mx to power their messaging infrastructure for their 170,000 email subscribers in Manitoba. Email Mx is a highly scalable messaging system that enables an integrated, bundled messaging solution, provides a new web mail interface, and offers customers personalized mail filtering options. As a result, MTS can differentiate messaging services from its competition through a compelling user experience.
