  TELUS MOBILITY LAUNCHES PICTURE MESSAGING USING OPENWAVE'S LATEST SOFTWARE PRODUCTS
 

  Openwave Multimedia Messaging Service Center and WAP2 Gateway Used For TELUS Mobility Picture Messaging
 
REDWOOD CITY, Calif. - October 28, 2003 -- Openwave Systems Inc. (Nasdaq: OPWVD), the leading independent provider of open software products and services for the communications industry, today announced that Canadian wireless telecom provider TELUS Mobility is using multiple software products from Openwave to launch differentiated data services, including picture messaging and games and music on phones.

TELUS Mobility's new camera phone and picture messaging service leverages Openwave's Multimedia Messaging Services Center (MMSC), Openwave Mobile Messaging Client, and Openwave Mobile Access Gateway 6. Openwave's software helps TELUS Mobility's clients easily send their photos to another TELUS Mobility camera phone or to any email address worldwide. Additionally, TELUS Mobility is using Openwave Download Manager and Openwave Provisioning Manager in support of TELUS Mobility's downloadable Java games and applications, which will be rolled out shortly.
