Openwave® Passport Nominated in Best Mobile Internet Service Category
Openwave Systems Inc. (Nasdaq: OPWV), a global software innovator delivering context-aware mediation and messaging solutions that enable communication service providers and the broader ecosystem to create and deliver smarter services, today announced that Openwave® Passport was shortlisted as a finalist in the Best Mobile Internet Service category in the 2010 GSMA Global Mobile Awards.
"Openwave is very pleased to be recognized as an award finalist for an innovative product that we consider important to an operator's ability to help convert the traffic growth of the mobile data tsunami into more data revenue per subscriber (ARPU) and increase subscriber profitability," said John Giere, senior vice president, products and marketing, Openwave. "Sitting within our all IP Traffic Mediation solution, our Passport service enables mobile operators to offer their subscribers on-demand, 'pay-as-you-go' mobile internet access, which include targeted data service promotions metered according to time, type of service and consumption levels, among other choices. We believe that Passport sets a new industry standard for experiencing the web on a mobile device."
The GSMA's Global Mobile Awards uniquely offers innovative organizations across the global mobile ecosystem the opportunity to showcase the latest mobile products, services and initiatives to the world. The Awards are open to all eligible mobile companies and supporters of the mobile eco-system - GSMA Members, Associate Members and Non-members - as defined in the individual category eligibility descriptions. The awards presentation takes place during the Mobile World Congress, the world's largest and leading mobile industry event held annually in Barcelona (15-18th February 2010).
