Value Added Features from Mobixell Pre-Integrated into Openwave's Next Generation Management Solution
Openwave Systems Inc. (Nasdaq: OPWV), one of the world's leading software innovators enabling revenue-generating personalized services which converge the mobile and broadband experience, today announced the availability of a new value-added solution pre-integrated into Openwave Integra, a next generation management solution designed to rapidly enable open, secure multimedia and multi-protocol service deployment on converged networks.
Openwave's service management portfolio gives operators the ability to expand the capabilities of their existing mobile gateway infrastructure with the option of driving new value-added services and monetization opportunities. Openwave is collaborating with several best of breed leaders in the mobile space including Mobixell Networks, a leading provider of innovative mobile multimedia and advertising solutions. Mobixell's applications will be offered pre-integrated with Openwave Integra or as stand-alone add-ons for optimized live, rich media adaptation.
"As mobile operators look to new ways to monetize the mobile Internet and drive increased adoption, service enablers that help provide a superior user experience are critical," said Ketan Kittur, director of product management, Openwave. "We are collaborating with leading mobile players to help us take our Integra service management solution to the next level by extending features such as rich media adaptation, security and optimization for more open internet access and the extension of advertising capabilities to rich media."
"As the mobile content and services market is rapidly growing, it is imperative that operators focus on delivering the best possible user experience to their consumers in order to drive adoption of new services," says Dan Winterbottom, principal analyst, Informa Telecoms & Media. "Even though the mobile Internet is by no means a 'new' service, mass market adoption is still at a very nascent stage and it is incumbent upon the operator to ensure a safe and easy to use experience that will drive increased usage."
New Service Enabler
Mobixell Networks is providing its video streaming and advertisement insertion solution as an optional add-on to Openwave Integra 2.5, which allows operators and content providers to introduce multimedia based services to subscribers and maximize their revenue streams by delivering optimized, rich media content while ensuring the best quality of experience. Mobixell's Mobile Webcast enables mobile operators and content providers to provide live video and audio stream services over a vast variety and diversity of mobile devices, domains and networks, driving traffic growth and creating the ultimate experience for consuming rich media on a mobile phone.
"We've teamed up with Openwave to help meet the demands of operators who are looking to quickly rollout innovative mobile multimedia solutions," said Yaron Dishon, general manager Americas, Mobixell.
