Mike Mulica, Chief Executive Officer

Mike MulicaMike Mulica is chief executive officer for Openwave Systems where he is focused on executing the company’s corporate strategy and positioning the company at the forefront of the Mobile Internet value chain.

In 2007 the World Economic Forum named him a Technology Pioneer, reflecting his 25 years in the technology and communications industry – including four years as a the original head of sales, service and support at Phone.com. As a senior vice president at Phone.com, he helped lead the $9-billion acquisition of Software.com, which led to the formation of Openwave.

Prior to joining Openwave, Mulica served as the president and head of strategy and corporate development of Synchronoss, a leading provider of transaction management, cloud enablement and mobile connectivity services for connected devices. While at Synchronoss, he redesigned its product and go-to-market strategies, and completed several acquisitions as well as a $124 million secondary offering.

Mulica joined Synchronoss after the acquisition of FusionOne, a leader in mobile content portability of which he was CEO. Mulica has also served as President and CEO of Bridgeport Networks, a leader in mobile-to-Voice-Over-IP. He has also held the position of President at California Microwave, as well as, various management positions at Tandem Computers and Data General Corporation. Mike currently serves as a Board Member on the CTIA Board of Directors.

Mike holds an MBA from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University, a Bachelor's of Science degree in Business from Marquette University, and a Graduate Certificate in International Business from Copenhagen Business School. The companies that Mike has lead have received numerous industry awards for leadership in technology innovation and as such, he is an active speaker and panelist at industry events around the world.

 

Anne Brennan, Chief Financial Officer

Anne BrennanAnne Brennan has over 20 years of leadership experience in corporate finance. In her role as Chief Financial Officer, Anne oversees Openwave's finance, information technology and corporate services departments. Anne has been with Openwave since 2000, initially located in the company's regional EMEA office before joining the corporate finance team at the company's headquarters in 2005. Prior to her appointment as CFO, she served as Openwave's vice president of finance as well as Openwave's interim CFO in early 2008. Before joining Openwave, Anne had a long career with Racal Group where she held various financial positions, most recently serving as financial controller.

Anne has a BA degree in Accountancy from Glasgow Caledonian University and is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.

 

John Giere, Senior Vice President, General Manager, Mediation Business Unit

John GiereAs senior vice president and general manager for Openwave's Mediation Business Unit, John Giere is responsible for growing the global market position for the company's Mediation product line, and developing business with new and existing accounts.

John has over 20 years of experience in management, marketing and business development. Prior to joining Openwave, John served as chief marketing officer of Alcatel Lucent (and Lucent Technologies previously), where he spearheaded global marketing initiatives and go-to-market strategies which led to the successful positioning and sales of new solutions.

Before joining Lucent in December 2003, he spent seven years at Ericsson leading a number of strategic marketing, branding and business development initiatives globally.

John currently serves on executive boards for Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) and Sonim Technologies. He holds an MBA from the University of Maryland and a BS degree from Georgetown University.

 

Sean MacNeill, Senior Vice President, Engineering and Global Services

Sean MacNeillSean MacNeill is the senior vice president of engineering and global services. In his role Sean MacNeill is responsible for worldwide engineering, global professional services, and customer support. Sean brings to Openwave deep industry experience in the areas of general management, strategic planning, product management, engineering, sales and operations. Prior to joining Openwave, Sean spent seven years at Dynavar Corporation, an integrated communication solutions developer to service providers and large enterprises. As president and chief operating officer, he was responsible for the day-to-day operational, financial, technical and strategic initiatives of the company. Sean led the sale of Dynavar to Sun Capital Partners who merged Dynavar with Solunet Inc. where he served as chief operating officer.

Before Dynavar, Sean held a variety of management positions in sales, marketing, and operations for such companies as Vocalscape Communications, a VoIP software developer, and Intrinsyc Software, Inc., a mobility software and services company.

Sean holds a B.A. with distinction and an M.B.A. from the University of Victoria in British Columbia, Canada.

 

Eileen Nelson, Senior Vice President, People, Organization and Communications

Eileen NelsonAs Openwave's senior vice president of people, organization and communication, Eileen Nelson is responsible for overseeing the recruitment and retention of highly qualified employees, and for maintaining a unified global culture across the business. Eileen is a recognized human resources expert with over 28 years of experience hiring, developing and retaining the best and brightest employees.

Most recently Eileen returned to 3Com as senior vice president of human resources where she focused on creating a unified culture in a diverse global organization. Prior to 3Com, Eileen was vice president of human resources for Tropos Networks, the market leader in intelligent IP broadband mesh networks. Previously, she was senior vice president of HR for eBay and senior vice president of Corporate Services at 3Com where she led a team of over 200 professionals worldwide.

Eileen attended Queens College, CUNY, and the Advanced Program in Organizational Development and Human Resources at Columbia University. She sits on the Advisory Board of the HR Executive Forums, the Santa Clara University executive education program, and is a trustee of Theatreworks and the Thrive Foundation.

 

Elizabeth Rushforth, Vice President and General Counsel

Elizabeth Rushforth As vice president and general counsel Elizabeth Rushforth will lead Openwave's legal team and oversee vital transactional and corporate governance initiatives. Elizabeth brings more than 15 years of legal expertise with an emphasis on corporate, securities, compliance and governance to Openwave. She most recently served as Openwave's associate general counsel, and also served as Openwave’s interim General Counsel from 2008 to 2009.

Prior to joining Openwave, Rushforth worked as an attorney at Sunrise Telecom Incorporated, a telecom management solution provider. She was also the founder of Kent Law Group pursuant to which she acted as outside general counsel for several start-ups in Silicon Valley.

Elizabeth holds a B.S. in management from California State Polytechnic University and a J.D. from the Washington University School of Law. She is also a member of the California, Missouri and Texas state bars.

 

Daniel Mendez, General Manager, Intellectual Property Division

Daniel Mendez As general manager of Openwave’s intellectual property business, Daniel is responsible for creating and executing a successful patent strategy for Openwave. Before joining Openwave, Daniel co-founded Visto (now Good Technology) in 1996 and has been instrumental in developing leading industry technologies. He is the principal inventor of multiple patents related to remote access, security and remote synchronization.

Prior to Good, Daniel was Vice President and Chief Technology Officer at American Management Systems (AMS), where he managed large-scale projects and was involved in the AMS Center for Advanced Technologies. Before AMS, Daniel served in a variety of technical leadership and management roles, including Director and Senior Technical Consultant at Cambridge Technology Partners.

Daniel holds an A.B. in computer science, with a concentration in cognitive psychology from Harvard University.

 

Timothy M. Robbins, General Manager, Intellectual Property Division

Daniel Mendez As general manager of Openwave’s intellectual property business, Tim is responsible for creating and executing a successful patent strategy for Openwave. Prior to joining Openwave, Tim served as vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary for Visto Corporation, which acquired and merged with Good Technology, from 2004 to 2011. He has a proven track record of solving complex legal and business problems, and extensive experience in managing and settling high profile multi-jurisdictional IP litigation. He also brings substantial cross-border transactional experience, with licensing and corporate transactions completed in over 30 countries. Prior to Good Technology he worked as an attorney at Gunderson Dettmer Stough Villeneuve Franklin and Hachigian.

Tim holds a B.A. in business/economics from the University of California Los Angeles and a J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law.
