Community Involvement

Openwave's Redwood City and Belfast offices have active committees dedicated to improving quality of life for employees, contributing to the local communities, and acting globally when disaster strikes and relief is needed most. Openwave employees worldwide take an active interest in improving their communities:

EMEA

• The Belfast Office has special outreach program chartered with providing support to local charities through donations, company events and special leave for employees.
• Ikholwa Children's Home, South Africa - an orphanage for aids orphans; Openwave donates money annually for school fees and clothes. Openwave employees also regularly donate toys.
• As part of Openwave's local Social Responsibility program in South Africa, Openwave pays the academic fees, books, monthly allowance, and university hostel/residence fees for three University students. Openwave also provided each student with a laptop. This sponsorship assists us in being fully BEE (Black Economic Empowerment) compliant. Openwave's last audit scored at a level 4, Value Adding.

APAC

• In February 2011, Openwave’s Australia office donated money to the Red Cross to provide assistance to flood victims in Australia.
• Employees who are members of Rural Fire Services (volunteer organization) receive time off with pay in an emergency such as the 2009 Victoria bush fires.
• Both Openwave and its employees donated money to fight these fires.

US

• In March 2011, Openwave donated money to the Red Cross for Japan Earthquake relief . Openwave employees have also donated vacation time to this relief effort.
• Redwood City employees donate to the Second Harvest Food Bank and Toys for Tots annual holiday toy drive.
• Openwave Redwood City employees volunteered at a local Habitat for Humanity event in August 2010. The employees assisted in the renovation of a house that will be used to provide affordable housing to the local community.
• Both Openwave and its employees provided relief for natural disasters (such as Hurricane Katrina and Haiti Earthquake relief effort). Openwave employees recently donated more than $10,000 to the Red Cross for Haiti Earthquake relief. Openwave also matched employee donations for Haiti Earthquake relief with a $10,000 corporate donation to the Red Cross.
• Participates in Silicon Valley Leadership Group. In 2009, Openwave hosted an 8-week internship for a local area mathematics teacher to work during the summer at the Redwood City facility, and bring the real-world expertise and coursework back to her students as part of an outreach program.
